Gulf Coast Exposure Camp --- August 10 & 11, 2019

Postby rbrew2013 » Sat Apr 13, 2019 12:08 am

Announcing the 8th Annual Gulf Coast Exposure Camp, August 10-11. The Camp will be held at the Gulfport Sportsplex. Please access the camp website at http://www.gulfcoastexposurecamp.com . Camp related info such as: Camp Staff (Colleges Coaches working the Camp), Hotel rate information, Directions, and a link to the On-Line Registration payable via a credit card only. Call Rocky (504.858.4404) w/ special concerns regarding the on-line payment process. The camp fee is $200.
As per the newly adopted NCAA recruiting rules, the weekend of August 10 & 11th is the final weekend the NCAA allows D1 coaches to attend Private Camps. Take advantage of this final weekend.
Saturday will be Drills followed by live Scrimmages on Sunday. Drills will include Offense, Defense, Pitching, Catching, Running, etc. A player will have a chance to work Primary and Secondary Defensive Positions due to the Camp offering two Defensive Fields and Offensive Fields. The Sunday games will have umpires and the College Coaches working the Camp will be Coaching and interacting w/ the Teams. As with every year, we may begin scrimmage games on Saturday pending Sunday’s weather forecast. The Coaches, both Camp Staff and other attending Coaches, are present to evaluate the current participant’s ability given their current age and to make a judgement as to where they see the participants' game evolving to by the time they are ready to attend College.

Again this year, we will have a Pitcher/Catcher session for the last session on Saturday. Plans are to have the participants divided by age. This session is available for Primary pitchers and catchers only.

Besides the Camp Staff, we always expect 15-25 additional College Coaches to attend representing DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, and Community Colleges. (We had 35 total coaches at the 2018 Camp and 39 coaches at the 2017 Camp.) With so many coaches present representing multiple levels of collegiate softball, the goal is to allow every Player the chance of finding a program they may be interested in pursuing as they progress. Our main 2 goals are for the campers to learn as well as to allow the player and college to find one another. If you want to play College Softball, High School and Travel Ball Teams typically aren't enough. Camps are essential tools for getting discovered/tracked/further evaluated by College Programs as well as to sharpen your softball skills.

We will be accepting the first 215-225 Campers for 7th - 12th Graders (2019 – 2024 graduates) and we are already receiving registrations so lock your slot in soon. Each year, the camp is filling much faster as word spreads of the value of this camp. Last year’s Camp filled by mid-July but we did accept late entries from the available camp waiting list as slots become available. Be sure to get on the waiting list if the registration site shows the camp as being full. For our 2015-2018 Camps, we averaged 30+ applicants per year remaining on the Waiting List who did not make the camp. This camp is the real deal and a great value for what you get and last year we had campers from 12 different States. Feel free to call David Lastrapes @ 949-547-3478 (please allow for West Coast Time when calling early) or Rocky Brewer @ 504-858-4404 w/ questions. We will be looking to Close Registration by August 7 in order to print all camp related material such as the Player Information packet for the College Coaches.
Below is the 2018 Camp Coaching Staff. We do not invite Coaches to work the camp until their seasons are over and as we fill the staff for 2019, it will be posted on the camp site, http://www.gulfcoastexposurecamp.com but many of the ones below return annually. If you plan on attending the camp, remember to invite any coach you feel is tracking you or any program you are interested in playing for.
